Here's the drill; name up to three of your OTPs, and answer the following questions.
1. Why are they your favorite?
2. What is your one true moment (OTM) between them?
3. What do you see as the future for your OTP?
Aang and Katara
1. They were Meant To Be. It's as simple as that. From the moment Aang opened his eyes and looked up at Katara, I knew: Meant. To. Be. Also, it doesn't hurt that they're just so flipping sweet that they give me cavities.
2.Can I just be a fangirl and say the final kiss? Actually, my favorite scene concerning them doesn't involve Aang, exactly. At the end of The Fortune Teller, when Sokka makes his remark about Aang being a powerful bender, and it all of a sudden just seems to hit Katara - I love that little scene, for reasons I almost can't articulate. The voice acting, the camera angle, the music: it's a beautiful shot. It still gives me shivers.
3. The happy ending, of course: a happy marriage, two beautiful children, and getting to spend the rest of their lives together in relative peace with the people they love.
Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye
1. Their dedication to their shared goals, their unwavering loyalty to each other, and the subtlety of their attraction - because it's there, damnit! - are all things that make them my favorite. Their connection runs deep, and short of giving up Roy's dream, I'm convinced there's not a single thing they wouldn't do for each other.
2. It's a tie between Riza flipping her shit when she thinks Roy's dead, and Roy yelling at Riza for flipping her shit when she thinks he's dead. They mean so much to each other, even if they're trying to keep it buried for the greater good.
3. What do I want to see?.. The happy ending. I think it's more likely that one or both of them will wind up dead, but... I'm just not going to think about that. I'm just going to pretend they'll be able to get married and procreate, and look back without longing on the days when she always carried a gun and he never went anywhere without his ignition gloves.
Han Solo and Leia Organa-Solo
1. Um, they're Han and Leia? They drive each other crazy because they're really more similar than either would like to admit, but they just can't deny that initial attraction, and eventually, despite the war raging around them and their own pride getting in the way, they fall in love. That shit's forEVER, yo.
2. The same moment EVERY fan has: Leia insists she likes nice men, Han insists that is a nice man, and when she tries to protest he gives her the best "shut up" kiss in the history of "shut up" kisses.
3. I've seen their future. It starts pretty awesome (marriage, three kids) and slowly devolves into... You know what? Screw Del Rey. As far as I'm concerned they never have to go through the pain of losing a child even once (let ALONE twice), and they get to spoil all their grandkids and teach them bad habits, because hey, they don't have to deal with them at night. It's awesome.
And as a bonus, here's three MORE couples from slightly more obscure fandoms because I have too much time on my handsI'm a dork and really couldn't choose just three!
Sabriel and Touchstone
1. She found him in an enchanted sleep, kissed him awake, and then together they defeated the evil necromancer and took back the kingdom. They were each a member of a dying bloodline, alone together in a strange, dangerous world that they had to not only survive, but conquer. Together, they were strong enough. God, I love them.
2. That moment in the reservoir, leaving her father to die, running from Kerrigor and the sound of the bell, when Sabriel drops her sword, grabs Touchstone, and kisses him, biting his lip in the process. I'm pretty sure I squealed the first time I read it.
3. They got exactly what I wanted for them. They married, he became King, she took up her father's mantle as Abhorsen, they reclaimed the kingdom, and had two beautiful children. Sure, they don't get to spend as much time together as they'd like, but they're both alive, and their children are coming into their own. What more could they want?
Lan and Nynaeve
1. Gruff, seasoned warrior (who also happens to be the uncrowned king of a dead nation) meets temperamental, bossy young woman from a backwater village, and somehow, by being her unreasonable, indomitable self, she reaches him in a way no woman's reached him since he let himself be Bonded to Moiraine (and that wasn't even a romantic thing!). He refuses to marry her because he's convinced he's just going to go die on her and she doesn't deserve that, but like all Two River's folk, she's as stubborn as a mule, and you better believe she gets her way eventually, and they are both much happier for it.
2. In The Shadow Rising, when Lan decides he's had enough of Nynaeve's silliness and he just picks her up and kisses her in front of her friends. Just to set her straight, you know. He concludes the scene by telling her that if she dies on the dangerous trip she insists on taking he won't survive her longbecause he would totally get himself killed avenging her, and then he sweeps from the room and leaves her to ponder his actions. Glorious.
3. Oh god, I'm scared. I want them to marry and have the children Nynaeve saw when she took the trials, but there's a very good chance one or both of them will die in Tarmon Gaidon, what with him leading an army made up of borderlanders sworn to a dead nation, and her determination to protect Rand throughout his trials. It could all go very badly, but I'm going to keep my fingers crossed.
Bob and Dot
1. Because they make a great team, and nothing gets me shipping faster than a couple who works well together under pressure (see every couple above for further proof). Plus, ya know, her being dangerously close to OCD and him being a "fly by the seat of your pants" kinda guy... They're just cute, okay?!
2. The kiss. Always the kiss. I waited three seasons for it (huh, familiar much?) and it didn't disappoint.
3. WHATEVER 4TH SEASON. MEGABOB NEVER CAME BACK, THEY GOT MARRIED, AND THINGS WERE GREAT. THEY BELONG TOGETHER. EVERYONE KNOWS IT.
