Wonder no more!

Yeah. I want one too.

Holy sweet potatoes, y'all. Check out the description on this Leia costume. WTF Galactic Alliance? Who wrote this?!... besides a diehard fanboy. I MUST KNOW THEM PERSONALLY!!!

Yeah, I'm still laughing.

EDIT: So maybe the company's employee roster isn't completely filled with nerds. How did I figure that out? They suggest that the Supergirl and Superman costumes would be good for couples. I dunno about y'all, but that kinda squicks me out a little... seeing as how their, like, kinda cousins or something and she's way younger than him and he has Louis anyways, just ewww, no please.

I swear I'm going to do my homework now and go to class. I really am.

Hopefully there's no question now. :) And I know you're having a hard time, so hopefully this will at least put a tiny smile on your face.

Here's the drill; name up to three of your OTPs, and answer the following questions.

1. Why are they your favorite?
2. What is your one true moment (OTM) between them?
3. What do you see as the future for your OTP?

Aang and Katara, Roy and Riza, Han and Leia )

And as a bonus, here's three MORE couples from slightly more obscure fandoms because I have too much time on my hands I'm a dork and really couldn't choose just three!

May the 4th

May the 4th be with... well, everyone!

How old were you when you first saw Star Wars? What's your earliest memory? For those who consider themselves fans, how did you know you were hooked? Any outstanding thoughts or arguments or... problems you have with the GFFA that you just wanna get out of the way? I'd love to know, guys!

EDIT: So it occurred to me that maybe I should share a little bit of my own fan experiences first. How 'bout I do that, huh?

I was 7 years old when I first saw Star Wars. It was Thanksgiving Day, and we were all out at a cabin in the Texas hillcountry that belonged to my grandparents' friends. After dinner (though it was really lunch, as always), we decided we needed a movie, so my cousin went into town and rented Return of the Jedi. I remember, very clearly, sitting on the rug in front of the TV with my cousin Austin, being completely floored by watching Luke Skywalker flip around Jabba's little sand skiff with his glowing green lightsaber. Afterwards - and yeah, I sat through the entire movie (a feat for a 7-year old, I tell you!) Austin and I went outside, found sticks, and spent the entire evening jumping off of the picnic tables pretending to be Jedi. It was great.

When I was 11, my mom bought me a copy of Heir to the Empire, and the rest, as they say, is history!

Some notes on my life, of late:

Grandpa seems to be doing better. It was very touch and go all weekend, especially for the couple days where he wasn't eating or drinking anything, but my mom told me today that he'd eaten two meals yesterday and he'd been drinking enough liquids, so I'm going to cross my fingers and keep hoping, but not be too expectant. He slept most of the weekend, but when I talked to him on Sunday he was coherent enough to recognize that I was going back to school, to tell me to drive safe, and to return my "I love you" with an "I love you, too, kid." I talked to him on the phone yesterday and he told me to quit playin' and study hard.

I got to see my aunt this weekend, too. She's using a walker to get around while her leg heals (she broke it falling off a horse last month), but she was lively and seemed to be doing well. She's back at work, too, so things are going good on her end.

I had a job interview last Friday with a company called Mad Science. Working for them entails dressing up like a mad scientist and doing experiments with grade school kids at summer science camps. It pays well, but the hours are very few, and if I work for them I'd need another job to make rent. I have another interview the Saturday after next with a woman who needs a nanny for her two daughters starting on June 1st, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 to 5:30. The kids are 11 and 12, and I'd mostly be there to make them lunch and drive them around, so I'm gonna pray that they like me - and that I like them because the situation would be IDEAL, and I might even be able to still nanny for them when she school year starts again. Cross your fingers for me, guys!

Kentucky Derby party this Saturday. Hayley's parents (who love horses, and any excuse to drink, on TOP of being completely loaded!) are paying for the main food and that drink stuff - Hurray! Mint juleps! - and we're all going to put on sun dresses and big hats and play croquet and horse shoes in the yard, and go swimming after we watch the derby. I'm super excited!

Finals. UGH! Finals! I'm three weeks away form being done with the semester (next week is dead weak), and I've got one final next Thursday, one Monday, two on Tuesday, and one on Wednesday, and then I'm DONE! I still have to give my French oral presentation, but I really seem to have lucked out. I was supposed to go Monday, but I wasn't in class and they were running a day behind anyways, and then today we had to review for our mini-test, which we'll take on Friday, and then the teacher will be out of town on Monday, so the earliest I'll have to do the oral is next Wednesday. Thank you, Jesus!

Next Monday is May the 4th - Star Wars Day, for those of you not familiar with the holiday (Get it? May the 4th be with you?). I have a Jedi tunic in the works, and I reeeeaaaaally want these boots because they're sooooooo GFFA, but... $200? They're real leather, and I bet I could get my mom to split them with me... But then I'd still have to come up with $100, and I really can't afford that right now. Even if I'm contemplating whether or not not eating for a week is worth these boots - and I think it might be. I REALLY want to wear my Jedi costume to class on Monday...

And that's my rather awkward and obvious segue into my recent thoughts on the EU, mostly concerning NJO. )

But enough of that. I need to go work on my study guides, and maybe go buy some new shampoo (or possibly some hair dye, because either will help my hair problem). Off I go.

Also? It's been looking like rain all week, and nothing's come down yet. Weird.

Genre: romance/humor
Rating: PG-15ish
Characters/Pairings: Jacen/Tenel Ka, Jaina
Summary: Love is a joke with no punchline.

Title: Bedmates

Rating: Gentle R

There really weren't a lot of downsides that Jaina could find to sharing her bed with two men. )

Alphabet Drabbles: For those unfamiliar, first you pick a letter and a corresponding word. Then you pick a fandom (or a crossover) and a character or pairing. For example, H is for Hug, Michael/Pam (The Office). In turn you'll receive a ficlet of some kind.

Claims under here! )

I got up earlier than usual this morning with the express purpose of getting my room clean so that I could reward myself by putting the (ridiculous amounts of) Star Wars books I own up on the new bookshelf I got yesterday from Ikea. I like to advertise what a nerd I am, so that I can stay away from people who are going to... ostracize me, or whatever you wanna call it (people like Cordero who for some reason DOESN'T LIKE STAR WARS and had the nerve to tell me and about 4 other coworkers that he didn't even want a lightsaber [which is a dirty, bold-faced LIE! I don't care who you are or whether or not you like Star Wars - EVERYONE wants a lightsaber!]) because I honestly don't think I could get romantically involved with someone who claimed they found Star Wars boring (WTF CORDERO?! Really?! I KNEW there was something I didn't like about you!).

The room hasn't gotten clean yet, but there are 64 Star Wars books on this shelf. 3 are loaned out (67), I'm missing 6 NJO books (from that period of time where my mother refused to buy me anymore books and made me go to the library, for 73) plus the whole other box that I don't have the heart to put up. That's like, almost 100 Star Wars books. Someone stop me. I think I have a problem.

So... I should stop rereading Vector Prime, shouldn't I?

It could just be the sudden increase in my appreciation of Aaron Allston's returning health - thank the Lord things are going well for him! - but I am really genuinely enjoying Outcast in a way I haven't enjoyed a Star Wars: EU novel since Fury (say what you want about the Legacy series: that book was GOOD! [and, not coincidentally, also written by Mr. Allston]). Even as much as I enjoyed Fury, Legacy was a series that I could put down when I needed to - like, for instance, at 1:00am when I have class at 9:00am and between showering, dressing, eating, catching the bus, and walking, it takes me 2 hours to get ready and get to campus. Outcast is not only holding my attention, but captivating it.

And there's one thought that keeps running through my head... Non-spoilery spoilers beneath cut )

EDIT: And did I mention... )

My (totally awesome) plans this weekend had been to go to Austin and meet Aaron Allston, who, aside from Tim Zahn and Matthew Stover, is most definitely my favorite author ever to venture into the Star Wars Eu. I was taking Julia with me, and we were going to visit her sister, and I was gonna get a copy of Outcast just so that Mr. Allston could sign it and I was gonna get to hear him talk, and everything was gonna be just amazing.

But on Tuesday Mr. Allston suffered a heart attack and had to cancel. He is on the mend, which I am very grateful for, but, of course, he had to cancel. I'm incredibly bummed, but I'm glad he's all right. Let's keep him in our thoughts.

Fandom: Star Wars: EU, post NJO pre-Dark Nest
Genre: romance/humor
Rating: PG-15ish
Characters/Pairings: Anakin/Tahiri, mentions of Jacen/Tenel Ka, Jaina, Han, Leia, and Allana
Summary: Everyone's gotten older but no one's really grown up. Compromising positions are still hilarious - even Han thinks so.
Author's Notes: This is set fairly late in what I will henceforth be referring to as the Coma!AU. Turns out that Anakin not dying on Myrkr has a lot of positive affects on the GFFA.

Today, off the side of 288 and 380, I saw my first bluebonnets of the spring. They were on the curb with some little pink buttercups, and it was only a tiny patch of them, but they still made me smile.

And for anyone who cares, I so totally fail at this whole "Read more then just Star Wars books" thing, because today on the bus I finished Edge of Victory II: Rebirth, which I started yesterday morning after finishing Edge of Victory I: Conquest, which I had started the day before yesterday. Meanwhile Neuromancer, which I've been reading on and off for about two weeks, is still about 100 pages from being done. Why can I not get away from this obsession? And New Jedi Order, of all things? It hurt me, so badly. Why did I go crawling back to it?

Well, it might be because I'm trying to write fic that's heavy on the Anakin/Tahiri. I fear one day very soon I will have to make an innane post about the EUAU timeline I have going in my head, because it looks like there's going to be a lot of fic set there. All things in time.

Author's Notes: I just really love these two.
